Birding Safaris Botswana

Bird Safaris or Bird watching can be part of a more general safari or you can choose to go on a specialist birding trip. With access to 4×4 vehicles, boats, canoes and walking trails the opportunities for great birding are guaranteed.

Botswana may not boast any true endemics but what it does offer is an excellent variety of easily accessible habitats and a great Southern African birding experience. Over 550 species have been recorded, including many rarities or those with a restricted range.

Birding in Botswana is recommended best along the waterways of the Okavango , Moremi , Linyanti and the Chobe River. One of the famous breeding phenomena’s is the carmine bee eaters that arrive in the hundreds of thousands towards springtime to breeding the banks of the rivers. The variety of water birds and Raptors in Botswana is truly one of the best birding venues in Southern and Eastern Africa. You will wake up with the call of the Fish Eagle , the woodlands kingfisher or even the pearl spotted owl of the evening before.
